Dr. Beth Trez has been playing the piano from as young as she can remember.  Her early piano experiences include her first music job as organist and choir director at church, accompanyist for her high school chorus, and her first experience teaching private piano lessons.  Beth continued to study music at Shenandoah University, switching from classical to jazz piano (under the tutelage of Dr. Robert Larson) and achieving degrees in Jazz Studies and Commercial Music.  After graduation, she moved to New York City to work at Electric Lady Studios.

While in New York, Beth decided to pursue her master's degree at New York University in the area of Music Education with an emphasis on jazz.  She studied piano in New York with Don Friedman and began her career in music education.  Her first teaching job was at William Cullen Bryant High School in Astoria, Queens, after being a music education major for a month.  Her masters thesis was on teaching jazz as part of a high school general music curriculum.

After graduating from NYU, Beth moved to Pennsylvania and obtained a teaching job in elementary music education in Elizabethtown.  At this position, she developed a jazz club that performed at a clinic with Eddie Gomez and Mark Kramer at Elizabethtown College.  Beth completed her doctorate in music education in 2015 at Shenandoah University, studying the piano blues improvisations of first, third, and fifth graders.

Beth also began her own business teaching private piano lessons and her performance career began to develop in Pennsylvania.  Beth's business began to grow and she resigned from the public schools to develop the TrezMusicEducationCenter located in Mechanicsburg.  Using a combination of traditional piano styles, jazz instruction with an emphasis on improvisation, and music education techniques that foster all learning styles, TrezMusic is a successful business today.  For more information on TrezMusic, check out www.trezmusicedu.com

Beth is also enjoying a full life of gigging.  She plays in/has played in several different groups in the area including, Cruise Control, Kerensa Gray Jazz, M80's, Shotgunn, Octagon, Daddy's Girl, and many others.  Beth also performs several solo and freelance piano gigs.  Her piano style is easily adaptable to any performance situation including band playing, weddings, private functions, and anything else that one may need a pianist for.  Beth can also form any type of musical ensemble to fit the function, drawing from the most gifted musicians in the Harrisburg area.

Music is an amazing thing and Beth hopes to be able to make music for you!
